Firpo Carr is a best-selling author who resides in the Los Angeles area and hails originally from Watts via South Los Angeles.

Over a decade and a half ago, Harvard University requested one of Firpo's books for its library system. Realizing the value of his unique writings, Harvard now carries two of his published works. As noted below, other prestigious colleges and universities worldwide would use his writings as textbooks.

His works have been produced in 54 languages (as translated by dedicated native-speaking translation teams around the world). They have reached well over three times as many lands (210 and counting), and his weekly articles are translated into 49 languages, making his writings available to millions.

He is an internationally known author, historian, scholar, Bible translator, lecturer, former radio show producer, former radio show host, university instructor, documentary producer/screenwriter/ director, and newspaper columnist.

He has appeared as an eminent scholar on such nationally televised documentaries as Encounters with the Unexplained: Secrets of the Bible--What Do the Dead Sea Scrolls Tell Us?, and the prime time specials Ancient Secrets of the Bible I, and Ancient Secrets of the Bible II.

In 1989, before the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the fall of communism in Eastern Europe, he was the honored guest of the Soviet Union. He made history by taking the first color photographs of the oldest, most complete manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible. These medieval documents date as far back as the tenth century C.E.

According to the August 4, 1990, issue of the Los Angeles Times, while in the Soviet Union, Carr went about "filling various scholarly requests, such as recording documents on church councils for medieval specialists at Stanford University."

He has been featured with other distinguished scholars on CBS's Today Religion and KTLA's Pacesetters. During the debate on releasing the unpublished Dead Sea Scrolls, KCAL9's Pat Harvey and Steve Jackson interviewed Firpo on his groundbreaking new book, The Divine Name Controversy (Vol. 1).

He experienced the Watts Revolt of 1965, the Los Angeles Uprising of 1992, and the ever-present threat of gang violence in the Nickerson Gardens housing projects, L.A.'s largest.

While with IBM for ten years, Firpo made extraordinary technical contributions and spent countless hours visiting inner-city elementary, junior high, and high schools in association with the company's community service programs.

His technical accomplishments moved IBM, uncharacteristically, to release a news story related to his works--to the major newswire services.

His works have been acknowledged by Jewish scholars at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and in an encyclopedia entry on the Holocaust; Muslim scholars and authorities who invited him to speak at a prominent Muslim center in the Gulf area during the second Gulf war; and scholars in Christendom who feature his work on various Internet Web sites.

New York's Cornell University, Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas, and Kenyon College, "the oldest private institution of higher education in Ohio...founded in 1824," are among a growing number of colleges and universities that use his best-selling book, Germany's Black Holocaust:1890-1945 (GBH), as a textbook. Poet James Wright is one of several famous graduates of prestigious Kenyon College.

The Museum of Jewish Heritage--A Living Memorial to the Holocaust produced a publication entitled Meeting Hate With Humanity: Life During the Holocaust (Teacher's Guide) wherein GBH is listed as an important reference work. The front cover of the Jewish publication states: "This Teacher's Guide is made possible through the generous support of The Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany--The Rabbi Israel Miller Fund for Shoah Research, Documentation and Education." Firpo has also thrice visited Yad Vashem in Israel.

As a scholar of religion Firpo was sought out and invited to co-author the article "Jehovah's Witnesses" in the authoritative peer-reviewed two-volume encyclopedia set African American Religious Cultures (2009). He has been the subject of countless newspaper and magazine articles from Time to People to USA Today to the Enquirer. And, curiously, the Vatican has even consulted his Web site--on more than one occasion.

Television (International & Domestic): Firpo Carr was either featured or made at least one (or, in some cases, many appearances) on the following television shows: ABC's 20/20 and Good Morning America; CBS's Early Morning; NBC's Today Show and Weekend Today; CNN's American Morning, Paula Zahn Now, Nancy Grace, and  Issues With Jane Valez-Mitch; MSNBC's The Abram's Report, Scarborough Country, and Hardball with Chris Matthews; FOX News' At Large With Geraldo and  Debra Norvell; CourtTV's Crier Live with Catherine Crier;  Inside Edition, Celebrity Justice, Extra, Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, E!, and TruTV. He also appeared on Los Angeles-based stations KABC, KTLA, KTTV, KCAL, KCBS, and KCOP.

Foreign-Based Television: BBC, SkyTV, ITN, Bloomberg (all British news agencies); also Canadian, Australian, Chinese, and Japanese news organizations and other international media, as well as countless other media outlets such as Arabic- and Spanish-language ones. As recent as December 2013 Firpo was featured on national TV in Egypt during another trip to the country when he was asked to comment on who constructed the pyramids. The interview was filmed in front of the pyramids themselves. Several years before, Firpo spoke to the people of Cuba on national TV after being invited by President Fidel Castro to do so.
